Whether you’re a musician, painter, writer, performer, or anything in between, we all share the determination to be good at what we do, but, “good” should never be good enough.
In order to be the best, you must first believe that you, yourself, are the best. Flex your muscles. Show your strengths. Never let people hold you back.
Like Muhammad Ali once said, “If you even dream of beating me, you’d better wake up and apologize!”
“If I say ‘Oh, I’m like Picasso,’ then it’s almost blasphemous to say that, and it’s like, what are we doing this for?” said Jay-Z during his guest appearance on Bill Maher’s Real Time on Aug. 4. “When you sit in that chair [to Maher], you want to be known as the greatest of all time, but it’s never going to happen if you don’t see yourself that way.”
So, if Jay-Z is “Modern Day Picasso,” then allow me to re-introduce myself as the Modern Day Frida Kahlo. A bold risk-taker. A realist, not a surrealist. A vulnerable and vibrant soul. Mi tocaya (yup, she’s a Calderón too).
I’m a revolutionary artist.
